Alexander Kokorin is the future of Russian football. He is still young and has time to become a global football star and right now he is well on course to do just that. Kokorin has been very important for Dynamo Moscow and the Russian National Team this season. He played a huge part in getting Russia into this World Cup, including a cracker of a goal vs. Israel, and has brought Dynamo Moscow back up onto their feet after a pretty poor showing from the squad last season. Capello will be relying on Kokorin to be in good form during the World Cup. Kokorin knows that Brazil is the perfect time to catch the eyes of the footballing world.
This has been a great season for the Russian. After his breakthrough in 2012-2013, Kokorin had a lot of pressure to continue his form. Some people may have been expecting him to slip up, but, as you know, that’s not what Kokorin did. Dynamo will also be looking to strengthen their squad for next season by bringing in new Russian and foreign talent. So if Cherchesov manages to keep Kokorin in fine form and build a squad that works well together they could go far in the Europa and maybe even challenge for Russian Premier League title.
Kokorin is capable of playing for a top flight club in the English Premier League, not just because of his footwork skills and pace on and off the ball, but also because of his attitude on and off the pitch. A lot of Russian footballers seem to be happy just to stay in Russia because of the huge wages they receive due to the domestic limit, but Kokorin might be different. He seems to get along with all his teammates and management, which some Russian stars could learn from. For now, Kokorin appears happy at Dynamo Moscow and will likely stay there for a couple more years. Kokorin, however, has been at the club for 6 years, so it could be quite hard for the Moscow side to keep him if bigger clubs come calling. His current contract runs through June 2016.
Cherchesov has had a good impact on Kokorin’s performance for Dynamo. Cherchesov has been playing Kokorin as a lone forward more instead of his usual position in Dynamo as a secondary striker or winger. This doesn’t just suit Kokorin better, but Dynamo as well. This is because Kevin Kuranyi just hadn’t got the pace anymore to being playing the striker role, whereas Kokorin is able to give that extra bit of pace when Dynamo are attacking. Kokorin also sometimes plays as a striker for the national team, so this is a positive for Russia as well because he will be getting much more experience playing as the main attacking force.
Kokorin is only 23 years old and already holds the record for the quickest goal scored for Russia. This shows that he has a lot to offer and at such a young age, too. Kokorin isn’t just liked before he is a fantastic football player, it’s also because he is friendly and has a very funny personality. Kokorin likes to use social media sites such as Instagram and Twitter to put up funny photos of himself and his teammates as well as reply to fan’s messages. When the media targeted Kokorin and FC Krasnodar’s Pavel Mamaev for having a bromance, Kokorin and Mamaev just went with it and started posting photos of themselves together.
In conclusion, Kokorin is an outstanding Russian football player and has a very bright future ahead of him. Kokorin is also a very likeable guy and with his good sense of humour I can only see his fan group growing. If I was you, I would look out for Kokorin during the World Cup, especially during Russia’s big clash with Belgium in the group stage.
